British mail was censored during World Wars I and II. Covers that passed the censor are common, but it is harder to find covers that were returned to the sender. This cover shows the label applied in 1940 when the censor returned this letter addressed to Sweden. Unfortunately, the contents, including the censor’s memorandum, have been lost.
