In November, 1947, Princess Elizabeth, heir to the throne, married Phillip Mountbatten. The event was celebrated by the pictorial cancel showing a bow under a pair of bells. The letters “E” and “P” are inside the two loops of the bow. Of course, Princess Elizabeth later became Queen Elizabeth II.

This one penny stamp took the letter to the United States. It paid the printed matter rate for a letter between 2 oz and 4 oz.
