July 19, 2008: The Philbrick and Prussian Finds will be displayed at the GBCC meeting at Chicagopex in November, 2009. Also, an article about how to conduct basic philatelic research is available on the GBCC site.

July 18, 2008: It’s been more than a year, but I’m still celebrating the Machins’ 40th anniversary.

April 6, 2008: Douglas Myall introduces his Deegam web site.

March 7, 2008: When you are in the U.K., be careful how you place your stamp on an envelope.

February 20, 2008: Three new Machins and one reprint will be issued on April 1 to pay some of the new rates.

February 9, 2008: The second literature review is British Stamp Exhibitions, a catalogue of the sheets, cards and labels distributed at stamp exhibitions.

January 30, 2008: We start the news year off, as usual, with Royal Mail’s announcement of its annual rate increase. The rates charts on the GBCC site are updated.

January 26, 2008: Added the first of a series of literature reviews. This one is A Timeless Classic, the story of the development of the Machins.

January 6, 2008: Added a musing about how times have changed. Also added some illustrations to the other rants essays on the page. Also some thoughts on the large number of military-themed issues coming from Royal Mail, an item I called Royal Mail’s caissons go rolling along, and, yes, I explain what a caisson is.

January 1, 2008: Added Machin FAQ 18 about underprints seen on Machins. (Chart corrected on January 5.)

September 2, 2007: Added Machin FAQ 17 about the wide and narrow fonts used on Machins.

August 29, 2007: Added news item about StampMart and news item about Dr. James A. Mackay, philatelic writer, who passed away earlier this month.

August 20, 2007: Updated GBCC pages with new officers.

June 30, 2007: Added a news item about the color name in the margin of new Machin printings. Also added a musing about shades of pink used for Machins on the occasion of the new ruby Machin issued to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Machin series. Even though ruby is a shade of red, it is very similar to a deep pink, so the new stamp fits right in.

May 24, 2007: Added a news item about the reborn Stoneham catalog’s rebirth. It is matched against the Stanley Gibbons Concise in the GB Catalogue Shootout in Musings and Miscellany.

May 11, 2007: Added the Great Britain Collectors Club interview with Karl Louis, philatelic expertiser and sleuth.

May 7, 2007: Added images and some additional information to the news item about The Beatles stamps.

May 6, 2007: I’ve slightly tweaked the Musings section and turned it into Musings & Miscellany so I can add some new kinds of articles there. I’ve also added the contents page that lists everything in this section and grouped the articles.

April 9, 2007: Added some new links on the main links page and on the Machin links page and cleaned up several links throughout the site.

March 24, 2007: We go back to the future and count our Machins as we approach the fortieth anniversary of the Machins.

March 19, 2007: New stamps for the new postal rates, as usual, with a brand new color for the 16p.

January 20, 2007: Wilson Hulme, the well-regarded Philatelic Curator of the U.S. National Postal Museum, passed away unexpectedly in January. His death is a great loss to the museum and to philately. Life goes on, however, and Royal Mail announced their annual rate increase to take effect in April.

January 18, 2007: Happy New Year! The Great Britain Collectors Club 2007 Annual Gathering will take place in Omaha in September. Join us and kick off the fall hobby season with your fellow GB collectors.
